The effects that air pollution has on human health may have an impact on the effects of COVID-19, better known as Coronavirus. Air pollution causes respiratory diseases and the Coronavirus seems to have a more dangerous effect on those with respiratory problems. A common factor that places with major cases of severe Coronavirus infections share is how unclean these places are. China, northern Italy, and United States, especially New York, all have poor air quality. This shows that there is a correlation between air pollution and the Coronavirus. Air pollution doesn’t directly cause Coronavirus but rather increases the number of cases and death rates.
However, due to the isolation during the pandemic, the air quality seems to be improving. Air pollution affected the increase of Coronavirus cases but in a way, Coronavirus helped improve air quality, which decreases the air pollution. Unfortunately, whenever the crisis calms down and people are able to go back to the streets with ease, previous activities will continue and affect the air quality again. Hopefully, people learn from these bad times to stay clean and start to worry more about reducing air pollution.
